Do you have a shower that leaks?  Well, you are not alone.  We get at least a couple calls a week about leaky Tile and "Mud Set" (old style) cultured marble shower floors (You can tell if you have a "Mud Set" shower floor if the level of the shower floor is about 2"-3" higher than the level of the bathroom floor).  In the first photo you can see how the drain is recessed into the floor.  That is a sure sign of a "Mud set" shower floor.

In a couple of the before photos below, you can see the water damage on the lower part of the wall and base molding outside the shower.  This is a very common area to notice a problem. In the third set of photos below, the floor is actually cracked in half and dropped into the "Mud Set" base about 1/2 inch.
Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for these problems.  Since the shower walls are set on top of the shower floor, the entire shower must be removed to get at the problem which is usually the "Mud Set" drain assembly, the caulk or grout joints, or the shower door.
The challenge becomes what to replace and not replace.  Many showers are connected to a tub in some way, and the finish material extends over to the tub.  Now the tub area automatically becomes an issue.  In most of the photo's below, we were able to match the existing tub finish and just replace the shower. In the second set of photo's, we replaced all the finish material around the tub area also, along with the jetted tub trims.
Like all professional remodeling work, these projects are not cheap.  To do it right so the same problems don't re-appear in a few years, the costs range from $3,000 to $6,000 depending on a lot of factors.
